UPPER EAST SIDE SOPHISTICATION MEETS SOHO FUNKY
IN THE HEART OF WESTWOOD VILLAGE

From the first moment that you meet Mark Slicker, the owner/proprietor and head stylist of his new namesake Westwood salon, his southern-charm will hook you, but its his talent, impressive resume and swanky new digs that will keep the clients coming back.

Having spent the last five years working the busiest chair at the famed Sally Hershberger at John Frida Salon on Melrose Place in Los Angeles, where he gathered a long list of satisfied celebrity clients ranging from Felicity Huffman to Diane Keaton to Lindsey Lohan, Penelope Cruz, Christina Applegate, Mary-Kate Olsen and Mariah Carey, Slicker decided the timing was right to bring his vision for a new type of salon to Los Angeles; he choose Westwood Village to bring his vision to life.

“I wanted a pedestrian friendly area that had the pulse of the urban city. Westwood was the perfect location,” explains Slicker. “There are countless salons in Hollywood or Beverly Hills, but I’m right in the middle of it all here—my clients from the Eastside, Westside or even the beaches and Valley can all be here in the same time. When they walk into our doors, they are going to love the buzz of the streets and the high-rise buildings that will then be contrasted by the look, feel and experience of the salon.”

The multi-level space will be a true urban retreat. The salon is part New York loft, part Dorothy Draper, mixed with an eclectic array of antiques and modern accessories. Filled with illuminated light from the glass front entrance, guests will be greeted by a high-ceiling entryway that looks down upon the bustling main floor of the salon. Once inside, the design palate features rich chocolate brown colors mixed with distinctive artwork. All salon accessories are being handcrafted in Europe and no detail is going untouched. “I want my clients to get the sense that they have escaped their reality when they step into my salon,” notes Slicker. “We’re going to have a kitchen, wifi for web-surfing and other surprises you won’t find anywhere else. Service and hospitality will be paramount. When you make an appointment here, we make a commitment.”

As a leading stylist, Slicker has overseen spreads for major publications including Vanity Fair, In-Style and The Hamptons, as well as served as the stylist/colorist for such big brands campaigns as Prada. Not a native Angeleno, the Oklahoma native and Dallas resident began his career working with the best in the business; Roger Thompson—creative director for Vidal Sassoon in the 1970’s. Mark then went on to earn the title of Creative Color Director from his mentor at his Dallas salon. Prior to heading out west, Slicker had his own Dallas salon known as Three-Thirty; therefore, owning and running a professional and successful salon is nothing new to the rising star.

Mark’s styling techniques are influenced by geometric shapes. He takes a natural approach and practices visual-cutting; he is technical, yet performs free-hand. His passion comes from the spontaneity and artistic expression that comes with being a stylist.
